Mid 20th century - Good condition
Zoömorf ritual (monkey) mask of the DOGON tribe.
Dates from circa 1950- 1960.
Dimensions: Height: 35 cm. x Width 17 cm. x Depth 12 cm., Weight: 625 grams.
The mask has really been tribally used as you can see from the traces of wear and tear. It has also become very grey which is related to its old age. Otherwise in very good condition. One of the rarer masks with a mystical appearance.
Original collector, a Belgian colonial civil servant, working in Eastern CONGO.
Upon his return to Belgium with his family, right after the independence of Belgian Congo, he took his extensive collection of ethnic arts, weapons and utensils back with him, to Belgium.
I can now start to sell large parts of this collection and I have also posted some photos from his photo album of his time in Congo, among others, with his family and in the country. They are not included but I can email them to you.
You will receive a CERTIFICATE with a photo, a description and an age attestation delivered by AFRICANART.
Comes without stand.
Will be sent by registered mail with PostNL.
