Mechanical – 8-day movement – half-hourly striking mechanism with bell
Made of black marble.
This pendulum is a Rolsen Paris 5879 4/8 and dates back to around 1890/1900
With the mark "Allé d'argent cent 686". The maker is L. Brocot.
It was repaired by C.K. on 9th July, 1900. This is apparent from the following hand-made inscription:
"Reparrer le 9 juillet 1900"
The case carries a beautiful zamak horse, these types of ornaments are what made Rolsen world famous and very desired.
Through the years it has acquired a few signs of wear, a few places on the backside have been glued. This renders the clock a little weak, and it will need to be very carefully packaged. Please, see also the photos that are part of this description.
Also noteworthy: the clock is not easy to adjust. One back leg is not set right and requires something to put under it. This can be done out of sight. You need a lot of patience when you're adjusting the clock. The movement works very precise and it needs a lot of work until it works perfectly. But once it is in the right position, it requires no attention besides winding it once every eight days.
The clock has a bell that strikes every half and full hour. A beautiful and fresh sound.
The measurements are 210 x 200 mm, excluding the horse.
The sides have beautiful handles.
It is best to pick up the pendulum from the bottom when replacing it, as the case can otherwise move off the foot.
I made a few videos of a well working movement.
