A series very sought after. It marks a date in the art of engraving, the first series of prints done by Callot, using the hard varnish of the luthiers of Florence, instead of the tender varnish hitherto employed by the engravers. It is a marvel of composition and drawing, a prodigy of engraving, of an incomparable finesse and charm.
