This bronze statue is made of cast bronze with brown patinated finish and signed on the back; mestais.
The sculpture stands on a marble base with a brass plaque with the text; MME sans-gene 1st acte.
Madame Sans-Gene is the main character in a play (historical comedy) written in the year 1893 by Victorien Sardou and Emile Moreau. This play is about the life of the wife of Francois Joseph Lefebvre (Duke of Dantzig), who during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte and Marshal was a military and field marshal.
This play has been performed many times and even adapted into a film; in 1893 (play) by Sardou and Emile Moreau, in 1915 (opera) by Umberto Giordano, in 1911 (film) leading role Gabriele Rejane, in 1925 (film) leading role Gloria Swanson, in 1941 (film) by Roger Richebe, in 1945 (film) with Jose Maurer, in 1961 (film) with Sophia Loren.
