This is a hand-knotted Kashan rug, made of durable, natural materials. Imperfections in the patterns and shape make this rug unique and emphasise its authentic and artisanal character.
Kashan (or Keshan) is located slightly north of central Iran. Kashan is one of the resting places along the Silk Road. Characteristic for a Kashan rug is a beautifully designed medallion, trees and figurative patterns. Some Kashan rugs are entirely covered in floral patterns. The most common colours are red, blue and beige.
Kashan rugs are durable rugs, made of high-quality wool, often with a rich shine, on a cotton warp. They are excellent rugs for daily use, with high durability.
This is a used rug that has become more beautiful and richer in character thanks to the natural ageing process.
This rug was imported from Iran before 2000.
Main colour: Red.
Cream, green and shades of blue.
Beautiful shine; Lots of nap.
Signs of wear:
Small discolouration as a result of sunlight accentuates the traditional character of this carpet.
