Macmillan, London - 1886 (first edition in one volume) - 447p, 15cmx13cm - condition: good, weakened binding, some wear to spine cloth, ownership mark to ffep, middle text block protruding. Otherwise clean. Rare first one volume edition . his one volume edition was printed in an issue of 5000 copies, some in the maroon and pink cloth and some like the present volume, in the dark blue-green binding (May 1886).

The Bostonians is a novel by Henry James, first published as a serial in The Century Magazine in 1885–1886 and then as a book in 1886. This bittersweet tragicomedy centres on an odd triangle of characters: Basil Ransom, a political conservative from Mississippi; Olive Chancellor, Ransom's cousin and a Boston feminist; and Verena Tarrant, a pretty, young protégée of Olive's in the feminist movement. The storyline concerns the struggle between Ransom and Olive for Verena's allegiance and affection, though the novel also includes a wide panorama of political activists, newspaper people, and quirky eccentrics.

2. "The Well-Beloved: A Sketch of a Temperament", by Thomas Hardy

Osgood McIlvaine, London - 1897, first UK edition first printing - 337p, 14cmx12cm - condition: good, some wear to upper spine, frontispiece + tissueguard present, map in the back present.

The Well-Beloved: A Sketch of a Temperament is a novel by Thomas Hardy, serialized in 1892, and published as a book in 1897. The main setting of the novel, the Isle of Slingers, is based on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, southern England. Many of Hardy's novels were set in Dorset. The Well Beloved is one of Hardy's last novels. It was first published in three-part serial form in 1892, and then revised and re-published as a book in 1897, after Hardy's last novel Jude the Obscure (1895). The novel tells the story of the sculptor Jocelyn Pierston's search for the ideal woman, through three generations of a Portland family. A cottage housing what is now part of Portland Museum, on the Isle of Portland, founded by Marie Stopes, a friend of Hardy and his wife, was an inspiration for the book. The cottage acted as the home of Avice, the novel's heroine.

The tracking number clearly stated that it was attempted to be delivered at your home in August, but you were not home. After a while, the French postal service has returned to me, the seller. I have contacted you that I was more than willing to return it to you upon payment of shipping costs, but I have never heard back from you. I can not do more as a seller at this point, and the criticism is unfounded.

De boeken waren geleverd zoals beschreven. De schade aan de dust jacket en het boek waren beschreven dus dat zou u moeten verwachten. Bovendien heb ik ook nooit iets gehoord van u, waardoor ik niets heb kunnen ondernemen. Dus uw commentaar is onterecht
