New condition - 21st century - Handmade in South Asia

Set of three beautiful, chef’s knives made of damask steel.
Each knife has an unique pattern as they were handmade in an artisan way.

The history of damask steel goes back hundreds of years. The legend mentions damask knives that are so strong that they can cleave a gun barrel in two and that they can split a falling hair. These are, of course, but legends but indicate that these are special knives.

The handle of each knife is made of camel bone.
The pattern on the blade is unique for each knife, this is due to the artisanal melting process that lies at the base of this knife. Typical of the steel of a Damask knife, is the pattern that resembles running water.

The knives are in new condition and have never been used.
Our company imports these knives exclusively from South Asia. They are not available in stores.

Technical specifications:
Hand-forged, sharp blade of 1095 and 15N20 high-and low-carbon steel, with more than 200 layers of damask steel.
Detailed forging process (checked with optical lens).
Precision heat treatment methods were used so that the sharpest edges are visible.
Hardness of the steel of the chef’s knives: 55 HRC on the Rockwell scale.

Characteristics of the knives: sharp, durable and rust resistant.

Total length: 38.1 cm.
Length blade: 25.7 cm.

Blade width: 5.5 cm.
Net weight: 280 g.

- Santoku chef’s knife:
Total length: 27.5 cm.
Length blade: 16.1 cm.
Blade thickness: 0.2 cm.
Blade width: 4.1 cm.
Net weight: 201 g.

- Shorter chef’s knife:

Blade width: 2.4 cm.
Net weight: 117 g.

Maintaining the knife::
Damask steel is a very special, artisan product with a high carbon value. As a result, Damask knives require special care for use and it’s best, when washing the knife, that no detergent is used. It is recommended that the knife be cleaned with water after each use, then once it is dry, it should be coated with a layer of (olive) oil. This is how they retain their natural quality.

Will be shipped by registered mail with track and trace.

Snelle bezorging van schitterend mes. Het was alleen beter geweest om het mes in de schede te versturen. De punt is nu namelijk verbogen doordat hij door beschermkapje en doos is gesneden...
