In good condition - created and hand crafted by D. Caruso
Sculpture created by Neapolitan traditional Nativity Scene artist Dario Caruso.
Terracotta sculpture with glass eyes, painted using oil colours, provided with a solid wood base. Hand worked according to a Neapolitan traditional technique, developed in the 18th century.
Realised by a Neapolitan “Laboratorio di arte presepiale, scultura e artigianato” (Workshop specialised in traditional Nativity scenes), whose name is Artèmia.
The aim of this creative workshop, located in the historical centre of Naples, is to keep alive the ancient, local tradition of nativity scene arts and crafts.
In the workshop "Artèmia", thanks to the mastery of Dario Caruso, many traditional creatures of the Nativity scene come to a “real” life: small sculptures, entirely hand made and hand-painted according to the traditional rules developed in the 18th century.
