Les Maîtres de l'affiche (full French title is: Les Maîtres de l’affiche: a monthly publication containing the reproduction of the most beautiful illustrated posters of the great artists, both French and foreign, published by L'Imprimerie Chaix, Paris (1895-1900), is the name of 256 color lithographic posters that appeared between 1895 and 1900. Around the 1890s the streets of French cities were livened up by large, colourful posters. In the last five years of the 19th century, Imprimerie Chaix played a major role in the conservation of the exuberant atmosphere of the Belle Epoque. It was in those years that this printing company issued chromo-lithographic prints - in the authentic colours – of 256 posters from that time. (Source: Wikipedia)
