1950 France

The largest size articulating industrial light from the Jielde' Loft 'Collection. Consisting of a round mounting base that supports a hinged tubular arm and five further arms. These are topped by a dome-shaped rotatable diffuser (globe) with a halo of steel that serves as a handle. Loft is produced entirely in stainless steel and in this example is finished in grey-black graphite.
The Loft Collection (originally named Standard) was born in 1950.

Hand assembled in the Lyon factory this is authentic, and in very good condition for the time of its production. This lamp with a beautiful graphite patina was made in the 1950s modeled on the original Jielde lamps used in factories at the time. The joints on this lamp make it unique. Most pivoting lamps use a cord which causes snagging at the pivot points. Jean-Louis Domecq invented a safe, durable and patented alternative in 1950. In this lamp simple copper plates are fixed in the joint point to conduct the current. So no cord damage or snagging can happen because it has no cord in the tubes.

This rare six- armed version is a genuine icon of the French industrial style and is not a replica. Loft sets the benchmark for rugged beauty. It was designed to be a careful balance between shape, material and function by the great French Engineer Jean-Louis Domecq. These lamps were handmade on the outskirts of Lyon in France. These are very sought after by interior designer professionals who see them as much as a piece of sculpture as a functioning lamp. Vintage, yet modern, timeless and classic. A lamp that continues to increase in value.

The metal teardrop switch is on the base of the fitting. It comes with a fresnel too that can be easily clicked onto the globe to soften the light if desired. (See pictures with and without fresnel.) The foot is big and heavy to easily balance the weight of the six-arms above there is no falling over like on many of these large lamps. |t will stay stable and will adapt to whatever position it is bent to.

It takes a standard bulb, eco or regular and is ready to plug into a socket.

Max height when extended 230 cms
