Early 20th century - Good condition - In its original condition
Rare and original double axe/récade of a Dogon ceremony. Those axes are reserved to animist priests and are mainly used for sacrifices of poultry, required by the healing soothsayers. Both of the curved blades, scarified with chevron patterned lines, are surmounted by two opposed heads. The handle ends by two spirals which symbolise a water swirl.
