Italy, 1966

Lot of 20 Fresnel wall/ceiling lights, designed by Joe Colombo for Oluce in the 1960s. Oluce is the oldest Italian lighting design firm, still active to this day. Indeed, in the pre-war years there was only Arteluce of Gino Sarfatti, who passed away in the late 1990s. In 1948 Azucena and Lamperti came to life, followed by Arredoluce and Stilnovo in 1950. For many years however the main players in Italy were Arteluce, Azucena and Oluce, which created a hub for designers strongly committed to the reconstruction first, and then to the birth of mass production; the movers and shakers of the Milanese stage were: Vittoriano Viganò and BBPR, Gigi Caccia Dominioni and Ignazio Gardella, Marco Zanuso and Joe Colombo.
