In very good condition, perfectly intact, excellent workmanship
Stunning and rare Nembro "Tabacon" marble apothecary mortar, carved and decorated on 2 sides with bull faces, symbols of strength and masculinity.
Please note the colour of the "Tabacon" marble: the presence of ferrous minerals inside give it a precious tobacco tone. The animal horns are impeccable, precise and fine.
Dating back to the early 19th century, this mortar comes from a well-known pharmacy in Turin (the bull is the symbol of the town), where it was used just a few times for its real use, namely as a bowl to mash or shred spices, herbs, etc. It was mainly used as a decorative item, given its unusual decorations with animal faces.
This mortar is one of a kind, considering its type, quality, excellent workmanship and high value. The lot is very prestigious and flawless and the Nembro marble is lively and bright.
