Jan Maes (Dendermonde 1876 - Zeveneken 1974) was a Belgian painter and watercolourist. He was a pupil of Isidore Meyers and Jaak Rosseels at the Academy in Dendermonde. He worked in the style of the Dendermonde school. He had a preference for landscapes, Scheldt views and picturesque Dendermonde city corners. From 1905 to 1939 he was a teacher at the Academy of Dendermonde and then became the Rector. His work hangs in museums Dendermonde. He is mentioned in the Belgian art books.
