Founded 1866 by Jakob Schweizer, Friedrich Wilhelm Quist (1831-1903) and others. In 1890 Quist took over from the other shareholders and owner. In his name the company was known as FW Quist Metallwarenfabrik. The family Quist remained the company till 1951. The company closed in 1981 because of insolvency.
Quist was famous for its gilded silverware in Germany and in many European countries as they did many export work. They usually produced luxury goods instead of products for daily use.
