Etching of ‘Kolkje’.
Etching is described and depicted in his book under number: CB 021 K.
A colour etching of the last houses on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal, which are also featured in CB 020 M.
During the printing of this etching Brandenburg is unfortunately not always been happy with his choice of colours.
Signed on the lower right corner in pencil.

Cornelis Brandenburg was born in 1884 in Wormerveer.
In 1902 he moved to Amsterdam and studied at the drawing school for art crafts.
He worked at “De Distel” in Amsterdam as a painter of pottery.
Thereafter, he concentrated fully on etching and became the most important etcher of the canals of Amsterdam.
He produced more than 100 etchings of Amsterdam and the archives of Amsterdam own more than 60 of them.
He died in Amsterdam in 1954.
There was a book published with all his etchings.
