Tin - in good condition
A Huntley and Palmer Biscuit Tin from 1911 [Reading & London, England] shaped like am old fashioned lantern [Amsterdam school style/arts & crafts] with pointed top and hanging ring.
"This tin is not styled like a fine brass carriage lamp, but a robust workers’ lantern.
The red part / eye [is faded] but suggests that the 'lamp' could be specially designed as a warning light for the railway - the kind that features in the famous short ghost story 'The Signal Man' by Charles Dickens.
The biscuit tin measuring approx. 9 1/2 inch = circa 24 cm long and 5 inch = circa 12.5 cm in diameter over the bottom.
Marked at the bottom with in a circle; Huntley & Palmers Biscuits/Reading & London England
Dates from 1911 and made in the classic arts and crafts style.
Still in a remarkably good condition with only some colour wear.
Will be carefully packaged and sent by registered mail.
