Ons Vrije Nederland - 85 not bound editions - 1945/1947

Lot with 82 issues of the magazine “Ons Vrije Nederland”, not bound, from the period shortly after the liberation of the Netherlands. It concerns the numbers 9 - 56 of the 5th year, running from 16 June 1945 up to and including 29 June 1946, and the complete 6th year (numbers 1 - 36), running from 29 June 1946 up to and including 12 July 1947. In addition the special Christmas annexes from 1945 and 1946 and the extra edition 'De prinses in gastvrij Canada' from 1945. All issues are complete and, but a single issue, in very beautiful condition. The magazine “Ons Vrije Nederland” appeared for the first time during the German occupation of the Netherlands, as a stencilled copy of “Vrij Nederland”. After the liberation of the Netherlands in May 1945 it appeared as an illustrated weekly. In the first two years after the liberation, the content consisted mostly of memories of the occupying time in photos, prose and poetry. In addition, the necessary attention was given to the trial of (Dutch) war criminals (Mussert, Blokzijl, van Genechten) and to the progress of the processes in Nuremberg. Also to the question of reconstruction got a lot of attention. Developments in the Middle East (Palestine) and Asia, such as the surrender of Japan and the situation in the then Dutch East Indies are also closely followed. These year volumes of the magazine are also interesting for lovers of comics. Starting from number 17 of the 5th year, the magazine contains a balloon comic about Tom Puss and Bumble. First as loose stories, later as a complete story.
