“Scugnizzo napoletano” (Neapolitan streetwise child), bronze sculpture by Giovanni De Martino (Napoli 1870 –1935), signed on a shoulder. Giovanni De Martino (1870 – 1935), after completing his studies at the Academy of fine arts of Naples, moved to Paris, where he won the Louvre award for the bronze "Le Pêcheur de criquets". Once in Italy, he took part to the Biennale di Venezia, to the Quadriennale di Roma and to many other national and international exhibitions. His works are in many museums, such as Parisian Louvre. He has been defined the sculptor of the children and the poet of childhood, he’s still remembered for his bronze sculptures depicting streetwise children, fishermen and commoners.
