in undamaged used condition.
A silver-plated tubular five-holder candelabrum made by the company Austin & Dodson & Co, Sheffield, England.
Austin & Dodson & Co. was active at Cambia Works, 191 Arundel Street, Sheffield (1835-1925).
This candle holder has a clean Bauhaus / Hagenauer (Vienna) look and has also similarities with the work of Chermayeff. The design absolutely was based on their 'art-deco' slightly modernist work. Please take care of this candelabrum was made around 1920 - it's design is very progressive for that period in England and makes it a rare object of this time.
The large candleholder is in wonderful condition. The weight is 1883 gram, the hight 36 cm and the width 40 cm. The base measures 12 x 12/13 cm.
At the bottom rim the hallmark of Austin & Dodson & Co and the letter-combination: ESMC (ESMC is a generic mark for Electroplated Silver Mounts on Copper (possibly); This system of stamping separate mounts was used mostly in Old Sheffield plate. )
I pack very well and send by registered mail.
