Mixed media on cardboard - signed - framed - 2005
|Title of artwork:||Dalinda en Sjorsje 05|
|Artist:||Sjoerd de Vries|
Sjoerd de Vries is one of the most remarkable Frisian independent learners. Due to lack of money and resources he developed his own exclusive technique: cutting, notching, and tears in layered cardboard and edit with bone-glue, lime, linseed oil, dye, and iron. This way he created many landscapes, nudes, and especially (self-) portraits. He has had several solo exhibitions: Gemeentemuseum Arnhem (1980), Frisian Museum (1992, 2005, 2015), Singer Museum Laren (1996), Gemeentemuseum the Hague (2003), Museum Belvédere (2014, 2016). In 2001 he and his steady girlfriend Dalinda Haantjes had a daughter named Sjorsje, after which mother and daughter are a theme in his work. Reference: "Heimwee naar de Toekomst" by Susan van den Berg, Museum Belvédere 2016 page 99 and on, I have bought the work at Gallery Steven Sterk. The blank wooden frame by P. Goris, Gytsjerk is tight and simple. The three outline photos were taken with different exposures. Insured and registered shipping in sturdy box.
