Etching - Signed on print - Ca. 1640

Technique: Etching
Condition: Overall in fairly good condition
Title of artwork: Landscape with the flight into Egypt.
Signature: Signed on print
Artist: Lucas van Uden (1595 - 1672)
Sold with frame: No
Total dimensions (in cm): 34,50 x 45 cm
Picture size (in cm): 22,50 x 32,40 cm
Year: Ca. 1640

One of his larger landscape combining the Breughel worldlandscape style with rocks and a river curlinbg towards the horizon. A very good etching that appeals to the depth and tonality of a painting.

Good impression of an unrecorded state with the name of Van Uden bottom left on it, but without the name of the publisher (Frans van den Wyngaerde) bottom right as in the third state. The first state has no names at all, so this is between I and II or between II and III.

Laid down on a collection sheet, trimmed just inside the image top left, some closed holes and retouched areas. Still looking good because of the high quality of the impression.

Flight into Egypt. Landscape with the Holy Family on a road in the lower right corner, trees to the right, a river and rocks to the left, mountains in the background
Etching

Signed in the lower left margin "Lucas van Vden pinxit et fecit"
