Remington Police .38 RF A particularly beautiful nickel plated Remington New Model Police. An original Factory Converted 38 RF. The revolver has virtually all the original nickel, is undamaged, and has minimal user traces. Of the ivory handles, one is engraved with the initials "MJ" and both are perfect condition. The initials indicate that it was a personal weapon and this may also be the cause of it standing the "test of time" this well. The 3.5 inch barrel has sharp rifling and also the cylinder rooms are well-kept. The cylinder indexes perfectly and the springs give a tight action. These conversion revolvers were produced from 1865 until 1873 and this one has (low) serial number 132 (!). It is estimated that total of between 17000 and 25000 .36 by Remington were converted to .38 RF. This is therefore one of the earliest copies. Everything is matching numbers, which is quite unique with "converted" revolvers. The revolver is optically and mechanically in top condition! A rare beautiful revolver for the advanced collector.
