4 red plastic bucket seats Modus SM203 with the original black woollen Tonus upholstery on an aluminium chassi and black plastic wheels, designed by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, Italy.
Signed in various places with the brand of the Tenco manufacturer (back of the backrest and bottom of the metal chassis), the year (1973, bottom seat), 'Made in Italy' (bottom seat) and the model number (Tecno patent pending SM203, bottom metal chassis).
The chairs are rotation, movable and adjustable in height.
Height 76 cm, seat height 46 cm (up to 51 cm max.), width seat 48 cm, depth seat 40 cm, total depth 53 cm.
Considering the age, this set of chairs is in fine condition and, on first sight, still appears as new. On close inspection, and keeping the age of almost 50 years in mind, some traces of use can be found. These were depicted on the photos as much as possible. The most noticeable ones are noted below:
- Scratches from use, some on the back, some on the front and 1x bottom left on the seat.
- A screw was broken off from 1 chair, causing a space of at most 0.5 cm between the seat and chassis; this is not noticeable when in use.
- light paint damage on the metal chassis.
- very light tufts on the woollen upholstery.
Because Osvaldo Borsani made an designed gorgeous industrial and function chairs with Tecno, I have included a photo for the enthusiast, showing the SM203 with a predecessor, the P40 (note: this P40 is not included in this lot).
