Oil painting on panel by Limburg-based artist Staf Beerten. Brilliant Expressionist landscape. Thick layer of paint. Vivid in colour, with striking contrasts. In flawless condition. Signed in full on the bottom right. Panel dimensions: 30 x 40 cm. Framed: 36 x 46 cm. Certificate on the back. Currently, Staf is on a somewhat different path, and paints figures in a naive and, at the same time, very personal Expressionistic style. Info Belisch Hemotech: Beerten Staf, (born in Beverlo on 08-06-1930) Encouraged by brother Max and Ludo Laagland, he attended a 4-year course at the Academy an Higher Institute for Fine Arts in Antwerp. He made study trips with Ludo Laagland to Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Spain and France. He was a co-founder of the art circle Beringen in 1951. He participated in more than 100 individual exhibitions (see book Staf Beerten), and in as many group exhibitions, in Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, the Hague, Hasselt, etc. Works by him, along with 12 works by brother Max, could be seen in Het Loo in Tessenderlo in late 2005/early 2006. He regularly took part in the exhibitions in the Saint-Aldegondis church in As, with e.g. "de vrouw in de kunst", "dieren in de kunst", "het portret","20 kunstenaars uit Limburg". He was a teacher at the school of Fine Arts in London for 6 years, and for some years in the casino Beringen and Heusden (now academy).
