Particularly atmospheric, Impressionist piece by Nicholas van Vulpen Wiertz. In good condition. The work comes with a certificate. Nicholas van Vulpen Wiertz was born in 1915 in Hilversum. His artistic talent was not a coincidence, his great-grandfather was Antoine Wiertz, a well-known Belgian painter who had a museum named after him in Brussels. He studied at the Academy of fine arts in Amsterdam, Berlin and Munich. He was a member of the Gooise painter’s association which also included Jan Korthals and Jan Rijlaarsdam. He travelled a lot and his pieces were therefore sold worldwide, also to celebrities such as Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. Over the years there have been several exhibitions of his work, including in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. He died in 1991 in Aubeterre (Dordogne).
