C. 1920 - United Kingdom - crystal - In good condition, with signs of wear
Thin and delicate leaded crystal set made in the United Kingdom. Composed of 4 liquor glasses, H. 10 cm x D. 5.5 cm, 4 small glasses for other types of liquor, H. 11 cm x D. 6,3 and a tray measuring 30.5 cm x 15 cm. On the upper band the glasses are engraved with a vortex and circle design. Pall Mall / Lady Hamilton, from the early 20th century, c. 1920. Garland decorations in the middle. Truncated conical stem, handblown circular base. The tray is engraved and cut at the bottom with a convex and fluted bullseye motif. In good condition with wear and tear caused by time: there is a small chip (but it is not sharp) on one of the four larger glasses (see photo # 22). Brief history: Pall Mall is a term applied to the majority of thin and engraved glass produced in the early 20th century. It is sometimes categorised as Edwardian glass. Although we have yet to see concrete evidence, it is believed that Pall Mall glass was sold by Woolworths. The glassware was sold through several outlets, but I am not aware of the actual year.
