950/1000, weight 42 gr
Fairly large sugar caster hallmarked with the French silver stamp: a head with 1 on the top right, for first grade content silver 950/1000 used from 1838.
Furthermore hallmarked with a to me unknown stamp of a city or master stamp.
The handle of the shaker is decorated on both sides with a delicate engraving
The bowl is open work with small oblong leaf patterns and the edge is lobed
The diameter of the bowl is 7 cm and the depth 3 cm.
The total length of the sugar caster is 21 cm.
The shape and decoration are very reminiscent of the Biedermeier style which probably dates the caster to ca. 1800
It could also be for the serving of soft fruit, this due to the dimensions
The total weight is 42 grams and the sugar caster is in a good condition.
