Johannes Josseaud was born in Amsterdam on 21 April, 1880. He lived and worked in Amsterdam until 1902, then in Bussum until 1903, in Amsterdam until 1911, Schoten (Haarlem) until 1919, Zandvoort until 1926 and in Haarlem until his death on 10 November, 1935. In Amsterdam he was taught by painter/illustrator L.W.R. Wenckebach. Johan Josseaud painted, drew, watercoloured, etched and lithographed cityscapes (especially Amsterdam and Haarlem), landscapes, interiors, still lifes and seascapes. His work is included in the collection of the Frans Hals museum in Haarlem. Literature: Scheen 1969 (part I), p. 570; Scheen 1981, p. 255 Very special painting as it was painted in Goes.
