“Regarding the traditional production of animated films (in this case: Oliver & Co.) the pencil drawings of the animators are transferred onto foil via copy machine (“xeroxed”) and then painted on the back with special colours that are adhesive on plastic (“painting”). This technique similar to glass painting ensures the uniform colouring of the surfaces on the front. After drying the finished CELS will be placed precisely by the cameraman according to the plan onto the background and filmed.”
