Mechanical clock with an eight-day movement - strikes a spiral gong every full and half hour.
Beautiful, well-functioning French school clock from around 1880.
The movement was replaced (as indicated inside the case) in 1982.
This timepiece has a gong strike every full and half hours, as is customary for a school clock.
The spiral gong has a lovely, sonorous sound. The movement and striking mechanism function properly.
The case is made of spruce wood, octagonal and blackened, and has no woodworm.
The edge is black, with a satin gloss, and it still has the original flat glass, encased in a beautiful brass ring.
The striking mechanism can be adjusted by means of a pull-cord.
The dial is marked with the text: Cartault.... La Ferté Alais
The winding key will be included.
Diameter is approx. 38.5 cm.
Depth: approx. 12.5 cm
