Persian carpet, Bijar Malayer, made in Iran, with certificate
|Material:||Wool on cotton|
|Condition:||Overall in good condition with traces of ageing and usage|
This carpet was knotted around 1980 in the city of Bijar.
The city of Bijar lies approx. 150 km northwest of Hamadan in the centre of the Kurdish region. The Bijar carpets are knotted by the Kurds in approx. 30 villages and in the city itself. Contemporary items are characterised by an extraordinarily resilient, firm and almost board-like structure. The wefts are dampened. When using the striking paddle, the water oozes out and the wefts contract after drying. This explains the board-like condition. It is considered almost indestructible.
Province: old Bijar
Made in Iran

The carpet is in a good overall condition, it has abrasions and natural differences in colour.
