Condition: good, some soiling, a few creases, vertical fold in the margin of one.
Kuniyoshi designed a set of at least 36 prints under the title ‘A modern set of the provinces in Edo-brocade style’. On each print two episodes of famous stories and heroes from different provinces are depicted.
Right print: upper part: Kai Province, general Takeda Shingen hiding in the reeds near the river at Kawanakajima. Lower part: Izu Province, the actor Onoe Baiko as Mishima Osen. (For more information see the catalogue of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Japanese Prints IV).
Left print: upper part: Tango Province, Lower part: Tajima Province
