Unique work in very good condition by Siep van den Berg (1913-1998) with certificate of authenticity, published by the daughter of Siep van den Berg and depicted in the first catalogue (see photo).
Siep attended from 1930-1933 a training at the Academy Minerva in Groningen and was taught by a.o. Jan Altink (‘Groninger Ploeg’). His father in law Hendrik Werkman has encouraged him strongly. From 1939 he worked in the famous Theekoepel in Groningen and after 1945 he took lessons at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiére in Paris. In 1954 he moved to Amsterdam and his style developed from naturalism through Impressionism and Cubism to Constructivism, of which this great piece is an excellent example. A new biography appeared in 2015 and in 2018 there will be a large exhibition in Museum Dr8888. His works can also be found in Museum Groningen and Belvedére in Heerenveen.
