In very good condition
Unique set of two Kalaga marionettes. Beautifully painted and dressed marionettes. The set represents a man and a woman.
Marionettes from Burma are extremely rare and are hardly ever seen nowadays.
This is an especially pristine set with barely any signs of wear and practically no damages. The pieces of string too are still good and present. The garments of the marionettes, just like the Kalage clothing, are made with great precision and eye for detail.
The marionettes measure 45 cm (height) and each weigh about 700 grams.
The fine Kalaga has splendid deep relief along the whole figure and in the flora and fauna. Although 'She chi doe' literally means 'embroidered with gold thread', it is crafted using multiple techniques, like embroidery, application (sequins) and quilts.
The marionettes are still in excellent condition, but it is possible that a small sequin is missing (not noticeable and non-disturbing).
