Beautiful large piece in mint condition by the the painter Siep van den Berg (1913-1998). Siep received his first training from Jan Altink (‘Groninger Ploeg’) at the Minerva Art Academy in Groningen. He was strongly influenced by his father-in-law, the renowned artist Hendrik Werkman.
After the second world war, he studied at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiére in Paris.
After this, he moved into a studio on the Brouwersgracht in Amsterdam.
His style developed from naturalism through Impressionism and Cubism to Constructivism, of which this great piece is an excellent example.
The piece comes in a nice frame and a certificate of authenticity will be included.
Provenance: piece comes from the daughter of Siep van den Berg. He has work in various museums, including the Groninger Museum, and in 2016 his new biography was published. This piece is pictured in the first biography (see photo). In 2018 he has a major retrospective in Musem Dr888.
