ADA EWE altar figurine (GHANA).
Figure d’autel ADA EWE (GHANA).
Ewe Ada Figur Hilfsgeist (Ghana).
Large Fetish from the Ada Adan ethnic group, in light wood with a pigmented patina.
The Ada fetishes are ritual objects of the voodoo cult, they are used by the Éwé and the Dangme of Ghana, near the Togolese border.
They are generally materialised by small wooden figures, animals, everyday accessories or seats, etc...
These figurines are responsible for interceding with diverse deities, evoked to offer to the followers protection, luck and prosperity, throughout their personal and family lives, as well as their everyday activities (hunting, trade, ...).
Regarding these objects which were until now very little documented, there is an important publication which is exhaustively and richly documented.
Bibliography: "Aklama,Helping spirits of the Ewe and Dangme People from the Study collection of Horst Antes".
