The Leica Standard or Leica E was launched as a basic model by Ernst Leitz, Wetzlar in October 1932. It was an improved version of the Leica I (C). The original Leica Standard was first introduced in a black version. The serial numbers started at 101,001 and 5,000 cameras were made between October 1932 and early 1934. Then Leica started with the chrome-finished Standard cameras, first in small numbers and later (as of 1936) in large quantities. After 1940 one could only buy the chrome version.
The camera is in good condition. No scratches. Vulcanite without damage.
The lens has a few external scratches (see photo).
