Johan Frederik Engelbert ten Klooster (Kudus, Nederlands-Indië , 1873) -Veere, 1940) was a graphic artist and artist of Javanese-Dutch descent. He lived and worked on Java and Sumatra, in the Hague, on New Guinea, and from 1915 in Veere. He was an officer in the KNIL, but after 1913 he was working as an artist.
He is known for his many woodcuts with the Dutch Indies as a topic, made during his Veerse period from memory and sketch books. In ''Johannes ten Klooster (1873-1940), a man with two lives'' 175 woodcuts were listed. A limited number of woodcuts is not related to the Dutch Indies. His style is characterized by a mixture of Oriental (Japanese) woodcut techniques and Art Deco/Jugendstil influences. An important part of the woodcuts is in the collections of the Tropenmuseum and the print room of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. The Zeeuws Museum also owns of a number of pieces.
