Our company Artvalue.com and its subsidiary Art-Lithographies printed and published that lithograph in 2007, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the original 1947 "JAZZ" book of which our portfolio is the facsimile. It was printed in our workshop of Art-Lithographies in Paris using thick pur chiffon BFK Rives paper. It is the last edition of Henri Matisse lithographs that was ever produced, the Matisse Succession gave us the rights to print and publish the "JAZZ" edition along with the "Nudes" and "Colors" editions in 2007.
The lithograph features the copyright of the Matisse Succession and the copyright of the printer and publisher Artvalue.com. It is sold with a certificate of authenticity, signed by the original printer and publisher, our company Artvalue.com.
We are not a dealer, we are printers and publishers and you would be getting that lithograph straight from us, the original printers and publishers of that edition.
Henri Matisse’s Jazz (1947) is often considered the pinnacle of livres d’artiste, or artist’s books. To create these works, Matisse cut forms out of large sheets of paper previously painted with gouache by his assistants. The cut-outs were then assembled on the wall of Matisse’s studio, under his direction. The themes set forth in Jazz can be separated into four categories: the world of the French music hall and circus, mythology and legends, symbolism for the War between France and Germany, and memories from his life and travels.
