This is a hand-knotted Kashan rug, made of durable and natural materials. Imperfections in the patterns and shape make this rug unique and emphasise its authentic and traditional character.
Kashan (or Keshan) is located slightly north of central Iran. Kashan is one of the halting-places along the Silk Road. Characteristic for a Kashan rug is a wonderfully designed medallion, trees and figurative patterns. Some Kashan rugs are entirely covered in floral patterns. The most common colours are red, blue and beige.
Kashan rugs are durable rugs made of high-quality wool, often with a rich shine, on a cotton warp (bobbin thread). They are excellent rugs for daily use and have a high durability.
This is a used rug, which has become more beautiful and richer in character due to the natural ageing process.
This rug was imported from Iran before 2000.
