Woodblock print of Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) (reprint) - "The Coast of Noboto" from the series "Thirty–six views of Mount Fuji" - Japan - approx. 1900
Title: The Coast of Noboto (Shimosa Province)
A group of people gathering shellfish in the shallow water next to two torii gates
The original work dates from 1829–1833. This is a reprint from around 1900.
Newly carved in woodblocks and printed on Japanese washi paper. The image has exactly the same size as the original.
The image has the Hokusai signature, the title of the series and the image: exactly the same signatures and seals as the original.
The woodblock print probably used to be in an album with the print pasted on thin cardboard.
Print measurements: 37.5 x 25.6 cm
Condition is good, clear colours.
In the bottom left corner the colour has disappeared on a small part.
