In the centre of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on the left bank of the Zaire River, the Lengola crafted rare masks which craftsmanship is strongly inspired by the one of their neighbours, the Lega (or Balega, Rega, Barega).
This mask was used for initiation ceremonies of young people joining the Butoka (or Butuka) society.
