Persian Senneh rug in antique colours being restored and in very good condition circa 1880
|Material:||Wool on cotton|
|Condition:||In good, restored condition|
Over the past two centuries, the Kurdish town of Senneh situated in the far north-west of Persia has been very active in producing some of the most attractive rugs. In Europe, the older Senneh carpets, if kept in good condition worth considerable amount of money. It seems fields full of Parsley or Boteh motifs are almost the trademarks of Senneh rugs, however, occasionally pieces found which are even more attractive both in design and colours. This antique 19th century Persian Senneh rug categorises as one of these rare pieces. Measuring 205cm x 128cm (6'7"x4'2"), it has rather unusual large geometrical central medallion decorated with floral motifs and embedded with similarly smaller medallions in eye-catching colours. This rug was restored to the highest standard including new fringes at both ends. It is now in very good overall condition considering its age.
This rug was exported from Iran before 2015.
