Persian wool Dorokhsh rug in pale red and blue overall very good condition.
|Material:||Wool on cotton|
|Condition:||Overall in good condition|
This antique handmade Persian Dorokhsh Prayer rug was made around the first quarter of the 20th century. Measuring 135cm by 105cm (4’4”x3’3”), it has a centre intricately worked with a central stylised floral motif within a meandering foliate surround upon a light orange field and within multiple stylised foliate borders. The rarity of producing prayer rugs from the region makes this piece rather appealing. It remarkably well preserved and its faded colours have added character and charm. It is interesting to know that Dorokhsh rugs are mainly produced in the Qanat region in the area called Dorokhsh Hills near Khorasan province in North East of Persia. The rug is generally in very good overall condition with consistent pile but slightly faded colours due to its age.
this rug was exported from Iran before 2015.
