Bergama Anatolia Turkish rug.
The carpets of the area of Bergama are distinguished by various aspects of their structure: always made of soft and shiny wool with a long fibre, their red weft passes several times between the knots, which have a low density.
The highly original structure headers are made with the kilim baft technique. Wide and varied polychrome, they can be red, blue or red-blue stripes. Conceived as true decorative pieces, the headers are sometimes made even more bizarre by the presence of sewn buttons, beads and trinkets of various kinds, all of little value, but important for the locals since they keep evil away.
