For a carpet lover, who appreciates the elegance and beauty of antique handmade tribal rug, for sure they must have seen or heard about antique Beshir rugs. These less common rugs from central Asia have different weave to other Turkmen rugs, whereby the wool made of medium cut piles. Although made by Turkmen nomads, they are not belonging to a certain tribe like Tekke or Ersari. Their unique look is in the form of unusual geometric designs in repetitive field and borders. The colours are also very distinctive predominantly in deep reds, blues and yellows. This professionally restored and extremely rare antique Beshir large carpet was made circa 1885. Measuring 520cm x 235cm (17'x7'7"), it has all the attributes required of these wonderful pieces.
Condition Report: It has been professionally restored, with both ends fringes redone including side cords, Colours still vibrant, with minor areas of local wear commensurate with age.
