HISTORY

Appellation: Pomerol
Owners: 1972 Jean-François Janoueix Family
Surface under vine: 1.9 hectares
Grape varieties: 85% Merlot for roundness, 15% Cabernet Franc for elegance

The past: today as in the past, pilgrims of Santiago do not fail to reflect on the beautiful stone cross erected near the vineyard of La Croix Toulifaut. This name deriving from the Romance language "tot li falt" means everything is flawed: i. e. all succumb to it. What could these pious people succumb to in the Middle Ages, except for the pleasure of tasting, as today, an incomparable wine of Pomerol ?

Geographical Location: remarkably exposed on the southern slope of the famous Pomerol plateau, the terroir of Croix Toulifaut is situated between Château Beauregard in Pomerol and Château Figeac, Saint-Émilion 1er Grand Cru Classé.

Nature of the soil : sandy on a ferruginous ground with very large quantities of alios "machefer" whose influence is fortunately felt in the ageing of the great wines of Pomerol.

Grape varieties: 85% Merlot, for roundness, fullness and fruit aromas and 15% Cabernet Franc, for elegance, structure.

Wine character: advice from Michel Rolland, whose expertise as an oenologist is well known: elegance, finesse, velvety, subtlety and subtlety of the Toulifaut Cross have something discreetly feminine; it is, according to Jean-Luc Pouteau, elected best sommelier in the world,"the Princess of Pomerol".
