Chinese bracelet from former Dutch East Indies / Indonesia, before WWII. Ivory bracelet wrapped with gold and marked as 14 kt / 585, depicting a dragon who is chasing the pearl. The bracelet has a strong symbolism which is transferred to the wearer. The Chinese Dragon is a mythical creature. A celestial animal which is believed to bring happiness and prosperity in China, and is closely associated with the empire and the emperor. Dragons symbolise imperial power and bringers of rain and fertility. Condition is used, original and not restored. The gold strip is intact at the back, the gold in the spirals is missing, see the empty drill holes. In addition, it is inlaid with a gold strip marked 14k585. Furthermore, the bracelet is broken at the back; take a look at the photos as well, for a further description of the condition. This object comes with a copy of the certificate by certified appraisal office, expert J. W. van den Berg. This item will be shipped registered, and only within Europe. No shipping outside Europe.
