|Edition:||Multiple Books / Editions|
A series of 34 volumes of the encyclopaedia of natural history written by the Comte de Buffon. These volumes were translated into Spanish and printed by the Editorial Mellado between 1847 and 1850 from the original; the Histoire Naturelle, générale et particulière, avec la description du Cabinet du Roi (1749–1804).
These were purchased in subscription form by my great, great grandfather. Out of 36 volumes, 34 remain; 29 and 36 being missing.
For their age, they are in a reasonable condition however there is a significant amount of foxing and ghosting (where the print has transferred onto the facing page) across all the volumes.
There is a certain amount of wear particularly on the edges of the front and back covers. A small number of the illustrations have been cut out.
Regrettably, at some point in the past the volumes have been annotated on the spine with the subject of each volume.
Each volume is approximately 11.5cms x 16cms x 3cms.
The total weight of the entire collection is approximately 14kg
The photos are representative of the varying condition of the books across all the volumes.
